Astrophysics 6″ f12 Superplanetary refractor (152mm oil-spaced triplet) on Losmandy/Celestron G11 mount. All original and unmodified. 6″ AP tube rings, dew shield, original case and water proof carrying case for the head. The OTA has several normal use paint chips, no dents. The original focuser is smooth but shows some use. See pics. The front lens has never been touched and is clear edge to edge. The star test is perfect. The OTA case is in poor shape and may or may not hold together in shipping. I would do a long technical description here, but if you are looking at this, you probable know as much as I or more. This telescope was traded in by a longtime customer that also traded in a Nikon, 4 Zeiss?s, and Pentax and Vixen Fluorites. The mount is the Losmandy G11 branded for Celestron as the CG11. Everything works as it should. Motor covers, standard electronics and motors and field tripod. Includes 1 counterweight, I would add another if it were mine. I picked the following off an ad from Astromart, Here’s what the late Tom Back wrote about this telescope: “The August 1986 issue of Sky and Telescope might have been the most impressive ad for its time. Seven apochromatic refractors were listed, and the most impressive was the 6” f/12 Super Planetary for $1540. The ad read: “Our new long focus refractors are designed for the most discriminating Lunar/Planetary observer who does not want any compromise in performance… The Lunar limb and the disks of the planets are sharply outlined against black sky, resembling charcoal drawings.” Well, I can tell you that got my interest! I placed an order for one, and at the next AstroFest Telescope Convention, I viewed Jupiter with a 6″f/12 Super Planetary with the one and only Robert Cox, and we were both staggered with the amount of planetary detail.
