For sale, a pair of original 8×24 Turactem binoculars,manufactured by Carl Zeiss Jena of Germany. They are in superb condition (pleasesee images) and full working order. Theoptics are clean and sharp, with all actions for focusing, dioptric adjustmentand viewing angle, smooth but tight. Allmarkings are also clean and intact. The binoculars are a good example of the Turactem model whichwas manufactured between 1914 and 1932. Duringthe production life of this model, the following serial number land marks werereached:1915 5000001917 7000001919 10000001930 1550000This pair carry the serial number 1513350 which would place theirmanufacture date between 1928 and 1930. The binoculars come with their original leather neck strap and originalhard leather case with leather carry strap. These are all in good condition, fully intact and trustworthy to use. They show the signs of use that would beexpected from a well looked after item of this age but have clearly not beenabused. These binoculars are a quality optical item which clearly havesome history. Although due to their age theyare a fascinating collectors item, they are also a decent pair of binocularswith sharp optics that would not disappoint in the field. They deserve a good home where they can belooked after, treasured and used.
