A beautiful, pair of Victorian binoculars / opera glasses made of hallmarked sterling silver and brass.
I’ve photographed the hallmarks for you to decide for yourself, but I belive they indicate these being made in Birmingham in 1894.
The focus adjustment is working fine, but the lenses are perhaps a little blurry, as might be expected after 121 years. I would say that these are more for their stunning aesthetic quality and historical curiosity value, than their function as binoculars. They do work, but don’t expect crystal clarity and massive magnification.
When fully extended, they measure approx 4″ in length.
Overall, a truly beautiful and rather rare item in exceptional condition for it’s age. A great addition to any collection or equally ideal as a stand-alone piece.
If there are any quesions, please ask.
