Victorian, (1868 – ,1891) Galilean field glasses (binoculars) The manufacturer is generally known by the name Thomas Armstrong and Bros, Manchester, however, this pair is marked “Armstrong and Bro Opticians” around one lens and “88 & 90 Deansgate Manchester” in the other. It is the use of Bro rather than Bros which gives the date range. The field glasses are in very good condition for their age although there is some age and usage related wear. The objective lenses are 38mm dia. Overall length 88mm min, 118mm max.
